Why do we do it?

So, this registration form has been sitting on my table for weeks.

Yes, weeks.

I look at it everyday. I contemplate sending it everyday.

And then I doubt myself.

Why do I do that?

I know I am fully capable of running 4 miles. I’ve done it before. I run 2 or even 3 semi-regularly, occasionally stretching it to 4 so I can prove to myself I can still do it. I think maybe I’m afraid I can’t do it by myself.

Today I finally got it off the table and in the mail.

Today I sent it in.

Here’s hoping I CAN do it.

When will I learn to stop doubting myself?

It’s going to be a long summer…and that 10K goal is going to be mighty big looming over me if I’m worried over a little 4 miler.

Anybody want to come run it with me?

Well worth the wait.

Ellie and Ev got scooters last Christmas. After riding them once in Grandma’s living room, they’ve been stashed in the basement just waiting for spring. Haven’t we all?? (well, maybe you haven’t been stashed in your basement…but I think we were all happy to see spring!)

The first go round was very successful! They were so much better at them than I expected them to be. Evan got his right away. Ellie’s took a little more balance. But, before long they were having races up and down the driveway.

Look at the concentration necessary…tongue out and everything!

Thanks for the Christmas gifts Grandma and Grandpa Friesen! They make us happy!

spring’s a comin’

Too bad these babies are probably going to get snowed on this weekend.

I love it when they come up, but they never seem to last long…rain or super cold usually gets them every time.

I’m Batman…

Last night when I came home, the kids were already in bed, as they are most Monday  nights. I always make sure to peek in at them before I go to bed. I noticed that Evan was wearing his summer jammies…his Batman summer jammies. I thought it was cute, especially since yesterday he’d been playing superheros.

This morning, he wakes up, asks me to put his cape on and tells me “Mommy, I’m Batman.”

Adorable.

Ellie got the same story, with a minor twist, when she got up. “Ellie, I’m Batman…now hold my hand.” Apparently, you can’t refuse when a superhero tells you to hold their hand.

mommy…I hafta go potty…

This picture should explain to you what’s been consuming a lot of our time lately.

It’s also a darn good excuse for not blogging. I’m going to take it. Yes, I’ve been lazy…but it’s hard to sit down and commit to anything for more than a couple of minutes when you have a little one deciding he has to go potty that frequently.

Nathan says he doesn’t really think he has to go all that often…more like, he knows when he goes, he gets a “chocolate treat” and his mouth has run out of chocolate.

He’s probably right.

I think I ate both breakfast and lunch in the bathroom, while sitting on the footstool waiting for him to go, today. Good news – I ate less than I normally do. Something about eating in the bathroom really shuts off the appetite. Hey – new diet plan. I should write a book.

Wish us luck. Lots of luck.

Wish us patience. Lots of that too.

Wish us sanity. We’re already partway gone on this one.

We’ll get through it. I don’t think potty training has ever killed anyone.

I did get a precious phone call tonight at work.

From my 2-year-old.

Telling me he went potty.

A-dorable.

(And FYI…He also told me about the chocolate treat he got for doing it!)
