toddler swim

On Saturday, Nathan and Ellie had their first “swimming lessons” at the Waverly Health Center. Its called toddler swim and is basically to get the kids used to the water and to teach them to kick and other basic swimming moves. She had so much fun splashing her daddy, and jumping off the side, I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to get her out of the pool when it was done.

The little boy to the right is in Ellie’s class at preschool. She loves him and was so excited to see him at swimming.

I was lucky enough to convince my husband to take her to these lessons, using the excuse that my swimming suit doesn’t fit – which, honestly, it might not. I haven’t tried it on…but really, who needs to see that? And he’s a good sport…and was honestly quite excited about it. Me…I’m just content sitting on the side snapping photos.

I’m takin’ bets

I went to the doctor yesterday morning…for the 32 week check-up.  Told the doctor I was tired…he came back with “you’re chasing a toddler, and 32 weeks pregnant…I can’t help you there.”  Now that’s reassuring!

I also told him I thought June 13 (yes, Friday that 13th) would be a good day to have this sucker.  One, its just my luck…and Two, it is two weeks early(due date actually June 28) …so, I’d probably be okay with the superstition that bad things happen on that day just to have this precious little bundle out.

So, I’m takin’ bets…Person closest to the day will win some sort of a prize…yet to be determined…perhaps the first dirty diaper, or the little nose-sucker thingy from the hospital.  I’m just kidding of course…there will be a prize, and it will be cooler than those things.

So, leave me a comment as to the arrival date…you can guess gender too if you’d like, and I’ll get back to you in 6-10 (don’t they say two weeks on either side?) weeks with a winner.  Thanks for playing! (I kindof feel like the lottery…in that spirit, you can’t win if you don’t play!)

a weekend with family

This weekend, the three of us travelled to lanesboro, mn for “family weekend” with Nathan’s mom’s family.  Its always an interesting weekend…due to the lack of sleep one usually gets, and more sugar consumed in three days than in months prior…but usually a good time is had by all.  I think the fact that I was seriously tired Monday is an indication of the type of weekend it was…I’m still trying to catch up.

I thought these photos of Ellie and O (Nathan’s cousin’s little boy) were precious.  They were putting rocks on the end of the slide and then taking turns going down it.  It was seriously cute… The fact that it was a balmy 40 degrees and windy didn’t seem to deter them (or their fathers) from being outside.

a new delicacy?

Last Friday, Ellie and I arrive at daycare, and it is raining. Big surprise there. I get out of the van and go around to her side to get her out and right by the door is the biggest, longest grossest looking worm I have ever seen. I say, more to myself than to Ellie, “ewww…a big, fat worm”. She, in response leans out of her carseat to see said worm on the ground. She then says…”big, fat worm…right there”, looks at me very seriously and says “don’t eat it.”

under a month and the panic begins

So, last Thursday (the 24th), I realized I had under a month to go until I turn 30.  Can the panic begin already, or does that seem a bit extreme?  I mean, I have one baby…one on the way, a house…a house payment, a good job, and a minivan for the love…one should quite possibly be thinking I was 30 already…

If Oprah says 50 is the new 40, can 30 be the new 20? Am I sure I would want to go back to 20?

Is it simply a mental thing or do I really feel older?  Maybe its my current state…fat and tired (feeling very pregnant today, only okay by the fact that I AM very pregnant)…that makes me feel 30+.  Maybe 30 won’t look so bad on the flip side of it…but right now I’m staring at it and unsure of how to approach it while maintaining my sanity…and dignity too.  Hmmm…

I’m welcoming your suggestions, both for achieving 30 with sanity and dignity…as well as suggestions on how to celebrate it.
