back to summer

This summer, Ellie tried t-ball for the first time through the W in Waverly.

It was sometimes painful to watch…i wouldn’t call her athletic ability at age 5 stunning…and most of the time she was interested mainly in playing in the dirt. I guess I can’t blame her, I find baseball dreadfully boring. Perhaps she did too. Overall, i think she had a good time.

It was cute to watch all the little girls play for the first time, even if they weren’t into it every minute of the game.

What blogging now makes me think about…

So, way back when…when this blog was started (January 2008 to be exact)…it was a way we could tell funny stories about Ellie (there was no Ev back then…evident by the header photo we still haven’t changed), share pictures with our families and friends, and keep everyone updated on what was happening with us. I guess I didn’t realize what it could mean to some people that read it.

I was motivated to keep posting current things so our kids grandparents, especially those that travel, could keep up on what we were doing back home.

After almost every post, I’d get an email from Nathan’s dad telling me how much it was appreciated that we took the time to share the pictures, to share the funny stories, and to make him feel like he was here with us. He was watching the kids grow up, and sharing in their daily lives by reading this blog.

I don’t write the blog for the comments i receive, or the emails I get afterwards…but I have to admit, I’m going to miss his.

So, when i sit down now to write a blog…I think of Stan and how he looked forward to getting the new posts so he could see what the kids were up to.

He would have loved reading the last post about Evan’s gentle and very accepting soul – allowing even flies to be his best friends.

He would have loved hearing about Ellie’s first days of school and how much she loves it (an upcoming post in the near future!).

Don’t worry Stan…I’ll keep posting. Maybe it means just as much to someone else as it did to you.

And a big Thank You…for being quite possibly the blog’s biggest fan…you are missed.

just the kind of boy he is

I come out to the living room one morning where Evan is eating breakfast, and he says to me…”Mommy, look, I’m sharing my granola bar (pronounced “nola bar”)  with my best friend.”

I must admit, i was a little confused at first…and then I took a closer look.

See his best friend?

The fly is apparently his best friend.

This is from the boy who tells me everyday, “mommy, I’m your best friend. I’m daddy’s best friend too, and Ellie’s best friend.” “I’m everybody’s best friend.”

the hard drive lives!!!

Get excited people…

New posts will continue!

The hard drive…a power supply issue…so nothing was lost.

Thanks to Ryan and his dad for helping me diagnose, and to Kevin for lending us the part we needed to pull information from the hard drive without a case.

Stay tuned for more posts…and soon…we hope.
