The kids have savings accounts at the local credit union, and about a month ago, we received a flier for a “free day at heritage farms” for the kids and their parents. I had heard from another mom that it was a good time, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. We met Nathan at work and then made the short drive to Hudson to the farm.
I always get a little nervous going to things like this because I hate large crowds of people…and it was busy…but thankfully, when you’re outside it doesn’t seem so congested. We eventually found a place to park, and then the fun began!
Kirby Kangaroo, kids club mascot was there greeting everyone. Ellie originally was excited and even gave him a high five…but after that was a little skittish…especially when he showed her his pouch.

She climbed on the hay…

She rode the pony…
I told Nathan I’d wait in line while he played with Ellie…and I also told him that I was sure we’d never get her up there on the pony once we finally got to the front of the line. Boy was I wrong. Nathan walked next to the pony the whole time…but i don’t think she even noticed he was there. She was in heaven. When she got off, she walked back to the next one and said…”my ride that one now mommy”. We practically had to drag her away from the pony ride…what a trooper.

this is what Evan did while Ellie was riding…he sat, beautifully…

Ellie also rode the horse we found in the hayloft…a much tamer horse,

and chose to show us her inquisitive side by exploring all the heavy equipment and its features.

despite the few raindrops that landed on our heads…it was a great day…one she can’t stop talking about!

What? No ice cream! That would be why I went.
