You know how I love her…I’ve gushed before!

I just had to try them…they looked so easy!

And they were!!

You start with a cover button kit….$2.29 at Hobby Lobby for a pack of 6 buttons and the groovy mold and pusher set.

Some cute fabric is also required…circular designs look great, but i only had one print with a circular pattern, so I tried pink swirls too.

All you do is remove the part that you’d use to sew on the button with a needle-nosed pliers (I found out after fighting with the first pair, if you just pinch it at the base it’ll slip out pretty easily) and then follow the instructions on the back of the cover button kit (it even gives you a pattern to cut your material).

When you’re done with that, you’re a little hot glue and some earring posts away from a cutie pair of earrings.

Earring posts found at Hobby Lobby as well…$2.99 for 36 posts…enough for lots and lots of earrings!

And voila…a new pretty pair of earrings.

At first I was thinking they may look like something an older lady would wear…and then I got thinking they were kindof groovy! I also figured you can’t really go wrong with earrings that cost $ .93 a pair.

The best part about them…from start to finish in less than an hour – in all honesty, if we hadn’t been watching survivor at the time, it probably would have been like 20 minutes.

I’m a crafter. I just go in spurts of activity.

These were really fun! Right up until I sliced my thumb open. But still worth it!

They were Christmas gifts for my sister and for a blog friend WAYYY out in Washington. Both were well received! Oh yeah…and the third one…I kept it. Mine, all mine.

I’ll definitely be making more of these in the future! Perhaps the very near future!

I thought I’d start with a couple pictures of homemade gifts from this year that I’ve been dying to show off since we got them finished. The only problem with wanting to show off gifts is that you have to wait until you’ve given them, especially if family makes up the majority of your reading audience!

These have become quite popular recently…definitely not an original idea…but it was fun nonetheless to put it all together and to try and find objects that signified our families while providing the right letters!

The pictures of them aren’t the greatest…but i think you can get the idea.

I was making a fairy skirt for a friend of mine for Halloween…yes…I’m that kind of friend. 

This is the beautiful sight that allowed me to start this project today…

I was originally going to take this project with me on the four hour trip to my sister’s house this weekend…but changed my mind when i realized that tulle with glitter on it gets glitter everywhere. Not good in my van.

Not good anywhere…like my basement carpet, my clothes, my hair, stuck to my face, or now plastered to the self-healing mat that we use to cut photo mats. Hubby – not going to be happy when all the mats we cut now have a glittery shine.

Let me just start by saying that tulle is hard as heck to cut. Hard to line up, hard to hold on to, just hard to work with in general. Working with tulle makes me want to start drinking these…

So, why am I doing this? Refer to sentence 2. I had a friend in need…and I’m a fixer.

So, tulle cut…at my “command center”

(on a side note…I just knew that slide would come in handy for more than sliding in the winter! I just had to find the right craft to prove it!)

Come to think of it…since its over, it wasn’t so bad…I’ll probably make another at some point. I’ll just make sure to stay far, far away from the glittery stuff…

I was showing this one to a friend at work (at the library)…and a patron came up and said how they looked like they were those fancy paper clips all strung together. I guess I was hoping they looked a little better than that, but whatever.
